Wednesday Night Formation

Lenten and Advent Dinners - During Lent and Advent we will gather for a meal together at 6pm and hear from a leader in the OKC community about civic and other important issues. We will use this time to learn, discuss and pray about ways in which the Cathedral community can further engage and grow, continuing to be a vibrant part of our community.

Lent 2024: Responding to Christian Nationalism

Wednesday, Feb. 21 will feature scholar, expert and teacher Dr. Samuel Perry at Session 1 “Christian nationalism” is a term you may have encountered recently in the press, on social media platforms and in casual conversations in your workplace, school, neighborhood or church. It is a framework of thinking that threatens our faith and our pluralistic democracy. What is Christian nationalism in America, and how should Christians respond to it? In Session 1 you will: ✓ learn a definition of Christian nationalism ✓ explore some defining characteristics of Christian nationalism in America ✓ consider some core theological perspectives that may help Christians safeguard their churches, their communities and themselves against Christian nationalism. With others, you will watch and discuss video clips from a recent webinar titled “Democracy and Faith Under Siege: Responding to Christian Nationalism.” The webinar is hosted by Amanda Tyler, executive director of BJC (Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty). Panelists include The Most Rev. Michael Curry, Presiding Bishop and Primate of The Episcopal Church; The Rev. Elizabeth Eaton, Presiding Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America; and Dr. Andrew Whitehead, associate professor of sociology at Indiana University Purdue-University Indianapolis.

Adult Church School - “Reading Between the Lines: exploring our story through biblical stories”

Sunday, November 17, 10:10 AM - 11:10 AM

Adult Church School is Happening! Are you tired of letting the kids have all the fun? Beginning on Sep 15, you’re invited to join us for "Reading Between the Lines" Adult Church School at 10:10 in the Adult Learning Room, led by Lauren Bass.   Each week, our incredible team of teachers will invite you to use your imagination, intellect, intuition and reason to engage the Bible stories, connect them with the world around us, and explore the resonances those stories stir in our inmost depths.  We will do more than analyze and understand the text – together we will experience scripture as a reality within ourselves, connecting us to the text and the world around us.  Please feel welcome to drop in any Sunday for “Reading Between The Lines: Exploring our story through Biblical Stories."
